An IFSC is 11 characters long. Take HDFC0001234 as an example.
IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) is assigned by the Reserve Bank of India to every bank branch that takes part in India's electronic payment systems: NEFT, RTGS and IMPS.

Frequently asked questions
What is an IFSC code?
IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) is an 11-character alphanumeric code assigned by the Reserve Bank of India to bank branches that take part in electronic payment systems such as NEFT, RTGS and IMPS.
Is the IFSC code the same for every branch of a bank?
No. The first four letters are the same for the whole bank, but the last six characters identify the specific branch, so every branch has its own IFSC.
What is a MICR code?
MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Recognition) is a 9-digit code printed on cheques. It identifies the city, the bank and the branch, and is used to process cheques quickly.
Where can I find my own IFSC code?
It is printed on your cheque book and on the first page of your passbook, and it is also shown in your net banking or mobile banking app. You can also search for your branch on Adliko.
Is Adliko free to use?
Yes. Adliko is free, with no signup and no limit on searches for IFSC codes, pincodes and bank branches.
